Pausing Backups

Learn how the automatic pause/resume feature of backup works on Rebit Personal and how you can set your preferences accordingly.

How to pause backup?

Rebit Personal gives you the option to pause backups in progress. This will come in handy when you have bandwidth-intensive or CPU-intensive tasks. Rebit Personal allows you to prioritize tasks as per your needs. To pause the backup process, you need to:

1. Click the Account menu.

2. Point your mouse to Pause backup for.

3. Select the time interval ( 1 hour, 2 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours or 1 day) to pause backup as needed.

4. To resume the backup process, you can click the Account menu and select Resume backup.

Automatic pause/resume of backup

Rebit Personal will automatically pause the backup process when certain events occur. They are:

  • When the PC is in power saver mode.

  • When the PC is using a metered network.

  • When the internet connection is interrupted

To change the preferences you can:

1. Click the Account menu.

2. Select Settings.

3. Select Preferences on the side navigation bar.

4. Toggle the following options as needed

      a. Automatically pause Rebit Backup in battery saver mode.

      b. Automatically pause Rebit Backup when using a metered network.

The backup process automatically resumes once the monitored event ends. The corresponding monitored events can be ended in the following ways:

  • When the backup is paused due to battery saver mode, please connect your device to a power outlet to resume the backup.
  • When the backup is paused due to metered connection, please change your device’s internet connection to an unmetered connection to resume the backup.
  • When the backup is paused due to network interruption, please connect your device to a functioning internet connection to resume the backup.

You can resume the backup by selecting Resume on the windows notification as well.
